The sixteenth leg of the Horseware/TRM National Grand Prix League 2014 took place on Saturday at Tattersalls July Show in Ratoath, Co. Meath.
The Grand Prix, supported by the Ward Union Hunt and ShowjumpingIreland, carried a purse of €4000 as well as being the qualifying class for the Horseware/TRM Premier Grand Prix which takes place the following day.
In a very competitive class 98 riders took on Tom Holden’s track on a overcast day which made jumping a lot easier than the humid sunshine we have been seeing in recent days. 17 competitors had clear rounds to put them through to the jump off. Riders complimented on the grounds which had been watered all week and had a good covering of grass and all the facilities available to them on the day.
It was Greg Broderick who took the top spot with Noel Cawley’s, Rincarina, the 10year old Mare by Cruising out of a Diamond Lad mare.
Greg followed up with his win in the National Grand Prix, when taking the winners prize in the €10,000 Horseware/TRM Premier Series Grand Prix. Sunday’s Premier Series win, came aboard the Caledonia Stables owned eight year-old gelding MHS Going Global, with whom Broderick also won the previous round of the lucrative Premiere Series at Cork Summer Show.
The 2014 League now moves to South County Show in Coilog Equestrian Centre for the seventeenth leg on Saturday 2nd August.
