The sister companies TRM ā leading manufacture of equine supplements and TRI ā equestrian superstore, based in The Curragh, have announced their support of Yvonne Connolly in her bid to complete the Corinthians Challenge.
The Corinthians Challenge series in aid of the Injured Jockeys offers participants a once in a lifetime opportunity, the chance to experience what it is like to be a jockey riding at some of Irelandās best tracks.
One of Irelandās best-known television personalities, Yvonne Connolly has stepped up to the challenge of race riding at The Curragh, Leopardstown and Cork. Yvonne who will be fully supported by TRM and TRI, is training with renowned trainer Jessica Harrington and has already passed her RACE assessment. Yvonne is not a total novice on horseback but not only has it been almost 25 years since she did any serious riding, before facing this challenge she had never ridden a Thoroughbred Horse.
Speaking on the announcement TRMās Managing Director Raoul Masterson said: āYvonne is a very brave lady and a superb role model to anyone considering taking up horse riding. Most importantly for us, the Corinthian Challenge Charity Race helps to raise much needed funds for the Irish Injured Jockeys Fund, a charity that offers so much support to the true heroes of our industry and we are delighted to have the opportunity to support this charity in a very unique wayā
Yvonne Connolly commented:
āWith encouragement from my friends and family I agreed to do the Corinthian Challenge. Past participants Tracy Piggott, SallyAnn Grassick and Jessica O Gara assured me it was a once in a lifetime experience. The cause was at the forefront of my mind and one of the main reasons I have decided to face my fears. Fundraising and raising the profile for Irish injured jockeys is very important to me and I canāt thank TRM and TRI equestrian for immediately offering to be my main sponsor, a testament to their continued vital support of IIJ. To train at Jessica Harrington Racing is a dream come true and also greatly appreciated. Iām very much looking forward to racing at 3 of Irelandās finest racecourses, The Curragh, Cork and Leopardstown ā
